The Philadelphia Eagles need a spark, but Hollywood Brown has not provided one yet. He remains in an elevated role simply because the team has no other healthy options. DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks both missed the last two games with injuries, according to RotoBaller NFL. Brown steps into the lineup, yet his numbers do not show he is ready to carry the offense. He played 32 snaps in the loss to Washington on Sunday, Nov. 1. That game ended with a 27-10 score. Brown saw just two targets and caught them for 17 total yards. Those are thin numbers for a player expected to make an impact.
Volume Over Production
More targets do not always mean more points. Brown played 36 snaps against Dallas in Week 7. He drew five targets there but only caught two passes for 30 yards. His usage is up, but his results are flat. Per RotoBaller, Brown has worked ahead of Elijah Moore over the past two games. He played 68 snaps compared to just 40 for Moore. The coaching staff clearly trusts him more than the veteran. But trust does not fix a broken passing game. The Eagles are 2-6 and on a six-game losing streak. They need yards, not just snaps. Brown is rostered in 0% of Yahoo leagues, which shows fantasy owners have lost faith.
Rookie Steps Up While Brown Waits
The real story in the receiver room is the rise of rookie Makai Lemon. He was drafted 20th overall in 2026 and is finally finding his footing. Lemon led the team with nine targets, six receptions, and 57 yards in the loss to Washington. He has at least six targets in each of the last five games. RotoBaller reports he now acts as the de facto No. 1 wideout with Smith and Wicks out. Over the last two weeks, Lemon has 13 receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown. He is the one who actually moves the chains. Brown gets the role by default, but Lemon is the one making plays.
A New Quarterback Changes Things
On Sunday, Nov. 8, during the Week 9 clash with the New York Giants, Joe Milton III assumes the quarterback role. This is his first career start. The connection between Milton and the receivers will define the day. The Giants rank third across the NFL, surrendering 184.9 passing yards per game. Wide receivers also receive 20.6 fantasy points per game from them. Those are good stats for the Eagles to exploit. But the defense is a major problem. The Eagles allow 235.4 passing yards per game and 25.3 points per game. Their defense ranks dead last in fantasy football with just 16 total points. The offense must score early and often because the defense cannot stop anyone. The Giants rank 13th in points per game at 23.3. The Eagles face a tough test. The game is set for 1 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field.
