The Penguins have filled a front-office vacancy. GM Kyle Dubas brought in Brandon Pridham as a hockey operations consultant, according to multiple reports Tuesday, adding an experienced executive with a familiar background.

Pridham spent 12 years as an assistant GM in Toronto before a change this spring brought John Chayka into the Maple Leafs’ front office. The move reunites him with Dubas, Toronto’s former GM. It also fills the gap created a week earlier, when the Penguins lost Vukie Mpofu to Nashville. Mpofu was known as Pittsburgh’s salary cap specialist and had a hand in several areas of the operation, and Pridham, 52, is expected to absorb many if not all of those responsibilities.

Pridham’s rĂ©sumĂ© runs deeper than his Toronto stint. Before joining the Maple Leafs, he was the NHL’s senior director of central registry and central scouting. His arrival continues a pattern for Dubas, who has steadily pulled former Toronto staffers to Pittsburgh, among them assistant GM Jason Spezza and vice president of player personnel Wes Clark.
