After falling to the Washington Commanders 27-10 on Sunday, the team sits at 2-6. This marks their sixth straight loss, a slide that has fans worried about the season. Head coach Nick Sirianni stepped up to take full blame for the mess. He told reporters that the failures on the field belong to him, not his assistants. According to Yahoo Sports, Sirianni admitted he is not doing enough to fix the team’s problems.

Sirianni did not hide behind excuses or blame the players. He spoke clearly about his own role in the recent struggles. “I take everything as my responsibility that happens out on that field. Everything,” Sirianni said. “Obviously I am not doing a good enough job right now. I’ve got to do better.” This direct admission comes after a game where the offense sputtered under backup quarterback Tanner McKee. The team scored only one touchdown and lost control after a strong start.

Who Calls the Plays?

Questions are growing about who designs the game plans for the offense. Offensive coordinator Sean Mannion has faced heat for the recent poor performance. Reporters asked Sirianni if Mannion would keep calling the plays after the loss. The coach avoided giving a direct answer to that specific question. “I’m not thinking about any of that stuff right now,” Sirianni said. He focused instead on the need for the whole group to improve together.

He promised to change his approach to get the team moving again. “That 100 percent is on me with how many of those issues are happening right now,” he told the press. “I’ll do everything I can to do different things to get that point across.”

The Season Hangs in Balance

The Eagles started the year with high hopes and a 2-0 record. Now, they have lost six games in a row and face a tough road ahead. Washington scored 27 unanswered points to seal the victory on Sunday night. Quarterback Jayden Daniels led the Commanders with 217 passing yards and a touchdown. The Eagles’ defense could not stop the run or the pass in the second half.

Sirianni says the team remains determined to fix their season despite the low point. He expressed his own frustration with the current results. “I’m pissed at myself,” Sirianni said. “I know I’ll fight like hell to do everything I can do to get this fixed.” The next test comes on Sunday, Nov. 8, when the New York Giants visit Lincoln Financial Field. The team must find a way to stop the bleeding before their playoff chances vanish completely.

Per Yahoo Sports, the coach knows he must lead by example in the coming weeks. The players are hurting, and the staff needs to find a new path forward.
