The Philadelphia Eagles are sitting at 2-6, and the fan base feels like the sky is falling. Yet one veteran player claims the mood inside the building is actually better than it was when the team won the division last season. Jalyx Hunt told 94WIP that the current struggles have united the group in a way the previous year’s success never did. This is a bold take for a team that just lost 27-10 to Washington on Sunday, but Hunt insists the chemistry has shifted for the better.

A Strange Shift in the Building

Hunt, who has been in the locker room since 2024, admits that winning often hides deep cracks in a team. He told 94WIP, “How it was in the building [last year], it felt a lot worse than this because we were winning, but it felt like we shouldn’t have been winning at times.” That quote cuts deep for fans who remember the 11-6 season and the Super Bowl run. The pressure of maintaining a title while feeling like a fraud can be more toxic than simply trying to fix a broken squad.

The difference now is that everyone knows they are not winning, so there is no pretense. According to Heavy.com, Hunt says, “But now we’re just not winning, so everybody’s on the same page in finding an answer, staying positive, and nobody’s quitting.” This unity is real, even if the results on the field remain ugly. The team is last in the NFC East, and the front office has made questionable moves, yet the players say they are all pulling in the same direction.

Why Winning Was the Real Problem

It sounds counterintuitive to say a losing team has better morale than a winning one, but the evidence from the 2025 season supports it. The Eagles repeated as division champions and won the NFC Championship, yet the locker room felt off. Winning cured nothing because the players knew they were lucky. Now, with injuries piling up and the coaching staff under fire, the honesty is refreshing.

However, unity does not fix a defense that allowed 27 points on Sunday. The team needs to stop the bleeding before the next game against the New York Giants on Sunday, Nov. 8. The roster is full of holes, and the coaching staff is struggling to get the right players on the field. Just saying everyone is positive will not stop the Giants from scoring.

The Hard Reality of a 2-6 Start

While the locker room might be closer, the standings tell a harsh story. The Eagles have not won a game since Week 2, and the season is slipping away fast. Per Yahoo Sports, the defensive line is also dealing with major issues, as Jonathan Greenard has seen very little practice time due to injuries. Vic Fangio noted that Greenard missed training camp and has had “next to none” of the practice reps needed to be effective. A team cannot win with a patchwork defense, no matter how positive the mood is in the meeting room.

Hunt’s reveal is a shock to the system, but it might be the most honest thing said all year. The Eagles are in a deep hole, and the only way out is to fix the play on the field. The fans will believe the locker room is united when they see the team win a game. Until then, the 2-6 record remains the only truth that matters. The Giants game on Sunday will be the next test of whether this new unity can actually produce a result.
